As of January 2020 the business underwent some changes and came under new management. After starting the business as Wombourne Tree Service in 1986 Bob Smith has decided to step back from the business and hand over the reigns to his son Dan who has worked in the business since the age of 16.
Here’s a brief introduction to the new management team:
Dan Smith – Managing Director – Dan started working at Wolverhampton Tree Service for his Dad (Bob Smith) at the age of 16, in fact probably long before that really. He completed his initial chainsaw training in 2004, adding aerial tree climbing qualifications in 2006 and has continued that professional development throughout his career.
By 2012 Dan was the lead arborist for the company overseeing a wide range of jobs and managing the teams on site. In 2018 Dan completed the ABC Awards Level 4 in Arboriculture with Tree Life and has a whole host of other qualifications under his belt. During summer 2019 Dan began taking more of an office based supervisory role and learning the administrative side of the business in readiness for Bob’s retirement.
Keith Turner – Director – After a career in Social Housing as a Senior Manager Keith opted for a career change following redundancy during 2012. After completing some chainsaw training in 2013 Keith joined Wolverhampton Tree Service, initally working on site with the teams to gain an understanding of the business but soon moving into the office and field as the Senior Estimator.
Keith has been assessing, quoting and specifying the works for the majority of our customers since 2014. This developed into a more managerial role and Keith has guided the company through 4 re-assessments for the Arboricultural Association and has helped WTS achieve approved status for CHAS, SMAS, Safe Contractor and Constructionline Gold standard. Keith has continued to develop his knowledge undertaking many CPD courses provided by the Arb Association, including Risk Assessment for Arboriculture, Pests and Diseases, Hazard Tree Assessment, Bats and Arboriculture and BS3998: Tree work recommendations.
We look forward to continuing to build on the Business which Bob created back in 1986 and taking it to new levels. We will continue providing a fantastic service to all of our customers and are relishing the challenge of growing the business and striving for continual improvement.
